Advising

If you are following the Computer Information Systems course of study or the Web Systems course of study, follow the procedure below before you meet with me for advisement. If this does not apply to you, you must obtain another advisor.

Prior to our meeting, review the appropriate course of study (computer or web), then review the appropriate outline page linked below. I have also developed a listing of future web classes (dependent upon sufficient enrollment) which you may wish to consult prior to our meeting.

  1. Study the catalog checklist.
[Computer Information Systems Degree - business emphasis]
[Computer Information Systems Degree - technical emphasis]
    [Web Systems Degree]

    [Web Designer Certificate]
    [Web Developer Certificate]
    [Web Administrator Certificate]
    [e-Commerce Certificate]
    [Rich Internet Application Developer Certificate]

  2. Web Students may wish to review the recommended course sequences I have prepared.

[Web Technology Degree recommended class sequence]
[Web Administrator Certificate recommended class sequence]
[Web Designer Certificate recommended class sequence]
[Web Developer Certificate recommended class sequence]
    [e-Commerce Certificate recommended class sequence]
[Rich Internet Application Developer Certificate recommended class sequence]

  3. Review these advisement web pages to verify you understand your responsibilities.
  4. Get a copy of:
    (1) The current ICC Catalog.
    (2) The Class Schedule for the upcoming semester.
  5. Print the appropriate checklist [Computer Information Systems] or [Web Systems], then, fill in the courses you have already taken.
  6. Write down on paper a tentative list of courses to take during the upcoming semester. Write down the specific course prefix and number, for example CMWEB 120. It is not necessary to select specific sections (meeting day and time) before you see me.
  7. Match each of your tentative course selections with one of the required or recommended courses in checklist you just printed.
  8. When you come in for advisement, bring the above items (c), (d) and (e) with you.

Come in for advisement during any of my office hours; no appointment is necessary, but you must be prepared as described above. My office hours are posted on my office door, room 334 C, and on the bulletin board outside the Business and Information Systems department office, 2nd floor, Technology Center. If you are now in one of my classes, you also may be advised during the lab sessions.
